Where does the time go? A lot has happened in the last 3 months, and it doesn't seem to be slowing down anytime soon. I've wanted to have a place to be able to share, create, and also learn from. To be able to generate conversation and ideas. So, here it is! The new blog. This first post will be a quick run through of everything that is currently happening (just need to get something down on paper... or on the screen?..).
So, my wife and I welcomed our second little boy Corbin Grey Broadway to this world last week! I will have to do a post on that experience and life with two kids. I'll just say this: I never realized how BIG my 3 year old really was. He had to of grew up two or three years in just a week. I will have to go into further detail later.
Recently, I picked up a couple of great books by Austin Kleon and have been inspired (You can find his work here http://austinkleon.com).
He breaks down life as an artist. Gives some great advice on how to share your work with the world. I walked away with a new look on art and the industry.
I've been working on a new film called '4 Quarters of Silence'. When I started this project I was unsure where it would take me. I just knew that I had to tell this story. The documentary is about the Texas School For The Deaf football team and their winning tradition. When I researched the school and teams background, I was hooked. "This is a story that needs to be out there!" I told myself.
When searching for a story or project, I always look for things that move me and interest me. What is the 'IT' factor that has me wanting to know more. If I'm curious and wanting to know more about a topic, chances are I'm not alone.
So, I reached to my good friend Skyj (Beautiful work, did a great job shooting She Rides Bulls and I Have A Voice with me), and we made it happen. Production started in the Spring of 2016 and is getting set to wrap on September 1st. This film has been very tricky, has challenged me, and has allowed me to grow as a storyteller. I have learned a lot about my editing skills and I can't wait to share it.
The goal of the project is to enter in several festivals (SXSW, Sundance, and so on). The tough part is we are under the gun to hit the deadlines towards the end of September. So, I've been editing since day one! Doing all that I can to make sure the film will be finished shortly after our final shoot date (Sept 1). I will posted on the project and where you can see it once it's finished!
